November 14th- “Unwanted Penance: A History of Prohibition in New Orleans”

Come raise a glass at the Old US Mint on Thursday, November 14th during a special interactive lecture commemorating the 80th anniversary of the end of Prohibition. The Louisiana State Museum and the Louisiana Museum Foundation proudly present “Unwanted Penance: A History of Prohibition in New Orleans” by Sally Asher. The event, which is free and open to the public, will feature complementary Prohibition-style cocktails sponsored by Old New Orleans Rum as well as a special performance by New Orleans’ burlesque standout Trixie Minx. The lecture will also include dramatic readings by local personalities Mikko, Veronica Russell, and Andrew Ward, who will transport audiences back to the days of speakeasies and bootleggers. Doors and reception at 6pm. Lecture at 7pm.
